History

In October 1993 Rev. Ian Goligher, minister of Cloverdale Free Presbyterian Church began a radio outreach ministry in the Okanagan. His radio ministry stirred some local interest in the stand and witness of the Free Presbyterian Church.

In 1995 Rev. Andy Foster, then just finished his theological training, visited Penticton at Rev. Goligher’s invitation. Two special Lord’s Day services were organized for September 1995. After returning to N. Ireland in November 1995, Rev. Foster began to know the calling of God to return and establish a pioneer Free Presbyterian witness in this city.

The leading of God climaxed in the Fosters arriving in Penticton in January 1997 as landed immigrants. The first Sunday services were held on February 2nd, 1997 and have continued since. Our radio witness still continues and we have recently added several monthly meetings in Kelowna. Another chapter in our history was opened on June 2nd, 2002 when we held our first Sunday services in our new Church facility at 120 Preston Avenue, Penticton.

One of the promises which the Lord made personal to Rev. Foster as part of his calling to preach here is the words of 2 Kings 3:16-17 Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches. For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water… This is our prayer that the Lord will send us showers of blessing and pour out the water of life, even His Holy Spirit into this spiritual desert.
